 Seated
in the shallow ravines and rolling hills of the Santa Cruz River
Valley, Canoa Hills Golf Club is an inviting 6,610-yard Dave Bennett
design that takes full advantage of its natural setting. The par-72
layout is located just 20 minutes south of Tucson, in Southern Arizona's
golf capital of Green Valley. Opened for play in 1984, the course
is welcoming to players of all skill levels and has become a popular
golfing destination for visitors to the area.
In general, indigenous mesquite trees can be found along the contoured
fairways. With accurate shots producing the best results, generous
lay-up areas make the golf course very playable for all abilities.
The large bent grass greens are very receptive to approach shots
making club selection important. Once you have reached the greens,
you'll be hard pressed to find better bent grass putting surfaces
in southern Arizona. Our greens are the purest greens around.
After a tame starting hole, Canoa Hills' second hole was recently
named one of the "Top Ten Great Holes" in the Tucson and
surrounding areas by the Arizona Daily Star Newspaper. It is a prime
example of the ultimate risk & reward hole. With an elevated
tee and ample lay-up area, the average player will have a mid-iron
into a green that slopes away and is closely guarded by a bunker.
For those who wish to "go-for-it" off the tee, the landing
area narrows with mesquite trees left and right, only leaving a
short iron into the green. The remainder of the front nine provides
for a very enjoyable variety of holes with number nine playing uphill
and into a prevailing breeze.
As you make the turn, the back nine winds through the natural terrain
with spectacular mountain and valley views. This collection of back
nine holes allows the player to use every club in the bag. The one
hole that players can't stop talking about when their round is finished
is the par-five 15th. Measuring 537 yards, this double dogleg is
an enjoyable challenge that makes visiting Canoa Hills a worthwhile
endeavor. At the completion of your round you will have played eighteen
unique holes giving you, "An Experience Beyond Great Greens."
