The
Cattail course is a 18-hole Championship Gary Panks' design, had
its Grand Opening on October 14th, 2002 to rave reviews!
The Cattail's design incorporates three lake features and the 2.5
mile, man-made recreation of the original Gila River. The personality
of the Cattail varies from its sister course, the Devil's Claw,
with respect to length and elevation. This course plays approximately
200 to 300 yards longer than the Devil's Claw from the back
tees, yet is comparable in length from the forward tees. As the
Devil's Claw uses an increase in elevation as one of its design
features, the Cattail uses a decrease in elevation with canyons
and wash areas to accent its layout. This course opened in conjunction
with the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa in October and
will again host the PGA Tour's The Gila River Classic in the years
2003 & 2004.
