Saguaro Course
Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed We Ko Pa Golf Club Saguaro Course, open since the end of 2006. They integrated aspects uncommon to the region, building a walkable golf course with traditional elements: The greens are closer to the tees, and the course fits the landscape. Unlike most desert designs, Saguaro features wide fairways, teeing grounds connected to those fairways, open fronts that allow golfers to run shots up to the greens and greens placed close to the ensuing tees, which makes it walker friendly.
Walking is encouraged, and the club makes that easier with battery-powered, walk-behind carts that carry the clubs. Riding carts also are available. What might be the most impressive feature of the course is its stunning beauty with backdrops provided by the Four Peaks Wilderness Area and Salt River Canyon. It also has decomposed granite cart paths, which blend seamlessly into the surrounding desert on a course that follows the natural movement of the land.

Designed by noted golf course architect Scott Miller, the We Ko Pa Golf Club Cholla course was created to play a challenging 7,225 yards from the back tees, but with multiple tee boxes that are well spaced to cater to players of all calibers. About We Ko Pa Golf Club – Cholla: With some of the most dramatic and jaw-dropping views of the surrounding mountain ranges including the Four Peaks, McDowell Mountains, Red Mountains and the Superstitions, We-Ko-Pa is already renowned for its natural beauty and unprecedented serenity. The desert terrain is contrasted by the Verde River, which flows north to south through the reservation. Thirty miles east of Fort McDowell, the Four Peaks rise from the desert floor to an elevation of more than 7,000 feet. The course features an ideal blend of doglegs and straightaway holes, a mix of slender and ample fairways and a good balance between benign and rugged green complexes. Yet without exception, there are plenty of shot-making options and lots of grassy bailout areas when the occasional shot goes awry. Unlike many course that you find in Arizona, no homes, roads or commercial development will ever mar the perfect setting. In short, it’s a hidden beauty. The views are amazing, the golf course is playable and it’s in great condition. It won’t be long before We-Ko-Pa will be mentioned in the same conversations with upscale daily-fee desert award-winners such as Troon North, The Boulders, Grayhawk.

Reviews
Spectacular would still be an understatement! Both courses are always kept in top notch condition and could not be more opposite, but in a good way. With the Cholla you'll be playing more target golf with blind shots and a lot of risk reward. While on the Saguaro course (my favorite of the two), its further into the desert with STUNNING views, more traditionally laid out and you'll have to keep it straight or watch your score explode. You get range balls included with your round, a great short game practice area and a very large putting green. During the round there is water and towels on the cart so you don't overheat and rest areas between some holes which is great. In my opinion, Wekopa is the best bang for your buck in the entire Southwestern US, never mind the Phoenix area! If you are a local who hasn't played here yet, or someone stopping through and looking for a good round of golf that won't cost an arm and a leg, this is the place. You CANNOT pass it up!!!!!

From the moment you drop your bags you can tell it is going to be a great experience. The staff was great. Got to play both courses with my son and they were in amazing condition
. The views are spectacular as well. I have played golf all over the US and the Caribbean and would definitely rank these 2 up there as being some of the best. Thanks for the awesome experience.

Wow, tough course, but beautiful. Try to get an early tee time because the desert colors look amazing in the morning. Every tee shot carries some length over desert to perfect fairways. There are Seguaro cactus everywhere!!! The greens roll smooth and true, and the cart paths take you on a magical journey around the course and through the desert. Put this course on your list immediately!
